Thoroughbred breeders in Uruguay have purchased Irish-bred Artiste Royal, a multiple Grade Istakes-winning son of Danehill, to stand at stud for the coming breeding season which begins in August. Artiste Royal will be the first son of Danehill to stand in Uruguay.
Artiste Royal raced for six seasons in France, the United States, Hong Kong, and Japan, earning $997,790. He won the Clement L. Hirsch Turf Memorial Championship (GI) in 2007 and the Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap (GI) in 2008.
The stallion has been in a breeding program at Haras d'Etreham in France and is being moved to Haras Rapetti near Montevideo. He is a full brother to Aquarelliste, a three-time Grade Iwinner. His dam is a half-sister to Arcangues, winner of the 1993 Breeders' Cup Classic (GI).
