American jockey Eddie Arcaro won his first horse race at age 16 and retired 30 years later with a total of 4,779 race victories.
Among his wins were five in the Kentucky Derby, six in the Preakness Stakes, and six in the Belmont Stakes.
Arcaro is the only jockey to have had two sweeps of the Triple Crown, first with Whirlaway in 1941 and again with Citation in 1948.
