California Chrome Honored in Home StateBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · August 28, 2014
Members of the California Senate and Assembly voted unanimously to support a resolution honoring Thoroughbred racehorse California Chrome for his two wins in the 2014 Triple Crown racing series. Picking up victories in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, the chestnut colt joined a long list of top three-year-olds that have claimed only the first two jewels of the series.
Horse trainers know it is almost impossible to keep a horse in top condition for three tough races in five weeks. Evidence of this truth can be seen by the fact that very few horses are entered in the entire Triple Crown series, which pits the best young Thoroughbreds in the country against each other.
