Chinese Media Interviews KER’s Dr. Peter HuntingtonBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · April 18, 2016
Dr. Peter Huntington, director of nutrition for Kentucky Equine Research (KER) in Australia, recently visited feed-manufacturing partner Beijing Balanceton Feeds in China. While there, he delivered lectures in Shanghai, Quingdao, Beijing, Kunming, and Guangzhou and participated in several media interviews, including one with East Jockey.
The topics discussed were related to equine nutrition in China, recent research, and recommendations for managing healthy horses.
In the interview with East Jockey, Huntington was asked if he had any suggestions for China’s Thoroughbred breeders and horse owners. He suggested that they should “hire detail-oriented professionals, pay attention to daily management, carefully monitor the health of horses, and put growing horses on pasture as often as possible.” He added, “Select high-quality, research-proven horse feeds, the best hay you can get, and do not give horses feed that is meant for other animals.”
KER works with partners around the world to bridge the gap between researchers and horse owners. With knowledge of local resources, KER partners mix high-quality feeds on-site using only best-quality ingredients and the greatest attention to detail. Find a KER partner near you.
