Cloned Horses May Compete, FEI Says By Kentucky Equine Research Staff · August 14, 2012

The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), the controlling authority for all international events in the equestrian disciplines of dressage, para-equestrian, jumping, eventing, driving, endurance, vaulting, and reining, has reversed its position on the eligibility of cloned horses.

Though the FEI previously banned clones from entering international competition, the organization ruled at its recent summer meeting that these equines may now compete on an equal basis with other horses. However, the FEI will continue to monitor research and welfare regarding cloned animals.
