Deadlines Approaching for KER Internship ProgramBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · January 16, 2017
To travel…to learn…to meet new people. Their motivations are as varied as their backgrounds, but all participants in the internship programs at Kentucky Equine Research (KER) seem to agree on at least one thing: their experience at KER prepared them for future work with horses.
The application deadline for summer internships is February 15. Year-long internship applications must be received by March 15. Find out more about the KER intern program.
Internships at Kentucky Equine Research are open to university students or recent graduates who want to gain hands-on experience in equine nutritional research. Summer interns stay for three months; those with more time can spend 12 to 18 months at the research facility in central Kentucky.
Former intern and KER staff member Catherine Whitehouse, M.S., said, “My year-long internship with KER paved the way for me to obtain my master’s degree in equine nutrition from the University of Kentucky.”
The KER internship program offers the practical experience necessary to understand and implement research protocols, as well as hands-on work in the day-to-day running of an equine facility.
