Downpatrick Race Meet Yields More Wins for ElliottBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · June 18, 2015

In 2014, Gordon Elliott was the leading trainer at the Downpatrick Racecourse meet in Ireland with 18 winners. He saddled two horses to victories in one day to bring this year’s total to 11 by the middle of June.

Elliott sent Moonmeister to the post in the V Is For Vintage Show Maiden Hurdle under the guidance of jockey Luke Dempsey. Moonmeister began to challenge Rufino, the leading horse, before the next-to-last hurdle, taking the lead after the final jump to win by half a length.

The trainer’s second win for the day was with Fort Smith, who was ridden by Jamie Codd in the J For Jaguar Handicap Chase.

Horses in Elliott’s racing stable are fed grain products produced by Bluegrass Horse Feeds, a Team Member of Kentucky Equine Research.
