Karen O'Connor Stays Active in Eventing CirclesBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · June 24, 2015
In her years of training and riding event horses, Karen O’Connor has won or placed high at many top-level competitions. Before a riding injury in 2013 led her to retirement from eventing, she earned champion status at Punchestown, Foxhall, Fair Hill International, and Rolex Kentucky. She was a U.S. Equestrian Team member in the 1988, 1996, 2000, and 2008 Olympic Games, twice aiding in medal performances. Karen also competed as a team member or an individual at several World Equestrian Games and Pan-American Games.
Though she is no longer eventing, Karen is still riding, and has competed in show jumping in Europe and the U.S. on a Holsteiner gelding she bought in 2013. She continues to train and coach event riders, and has been appointed to coach the Mexican eventing team as those riders prepare to compete at the Pan American Games in Toronto in the summer of 2015 and the Olympic Games in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
Sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research, Karen knows the importance of helping competition horses look and feel their best. She has used Bio-Bloom PS, a hoof and coat supplement, to ensure the horses in her stable have the nutrients they need to maintain healthy hooves and skin from the inside out. Australian clients looking for a similar dietary supplement can use Bio-Bloom.
