KER Bolsters North American StaffBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · January 20, 2016
Kentucky Equine Research (KER), an international equine nutrition, research, and consultation company serving horse owners and the feed industry, continues to grow globally through the development and success of innovative nutritional solutions to modern equine management challenges. Several staffing changes and promotions were recently announced.
Eileen Phethean, a KER employee for more than 14 years, was promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Eileen previously served as KER’s North American Business Manager and also earned an MBA from the University of Kentucky. Eileen has been instrumental in many of KER’s technical support initiatives, including MicroSteed™ ration evaluator and Gro-Trac® equine growth-monitoring software. Eileen’s primary role as COO will be to implement KER’s strategic plan for future growth globally.
Mike Lennox has been promoted to Director of Operations. Mike has been employed by KER for over 17 years. Before joining KER, Mike spent several years in the Canadian feed industry. His primary roles at KER involve overseeing product manufacturing and quality-control programs. He is also charged with formulation support for KER’s worldwide network of brand alliance partners. Recently, Mike led KER’s effort to achieve FAMI-QS certification, an international quality and safety assurance for the animal feed industry.
Erin Hsu has also been promoted to Director of Marketing. As KER’s Digital Marketing Manager, Erin was instrumental in creating Equinews.com, KER’s Nutrition and Health Daily web magazine and The Weekly Feed, KER’s award-winning digital newsletter, publications that set the standard for content-based digital marketing in the horse feed industry. In her new role, Erin will create and implement KER’s global marketing program.
KER also recently welcomed a new staff member to the sales team. Erin Hogan has joined KER to expand the company’s reach into the professional Thoroughbred market in both the breeding and racing sectors. Erin brings years of experience from many roles within and related to the Thoroughbred industry.
Finally, KER recently bid farewell to two longtime members of the KER team, Catherine Bishop and Susan Hammonds. Both Catherine and Susan were valued members of the KER marketing team and played integral roles in developing and maintaining KER’s partner support programs.
KER was founded in 1988 when Joe Pagan, Ph.D., realized that information generated from research was not disseminated to the individuals who needed it most: feed manufacturers and horse owners. Since the company began, filling that void has been a priority for KER. A second office is located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. To learn more, visit www.ker.com.
