KER Intern Spotlight: Erica RuggBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · September 19, 2016
Erica Rugg, one of the new year-long interns at Kentucky Equine Research (KER), is from Marshall, Michigan.
Erica has shown Quarter Horses for about 14 years and completed an internship with Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky. While there, she had the opportunity to work during the 2015 Breeders’ Cup, giving tours of the stallion barn.
Erica attended Michigan State University and earned her degree in animal science, focusing on animal biology and pre-veterinary medicine.
During her internship at KER, Erica hopes to see the horse industry in a different light. She has already learned a lot about managing horses, and now she wants to learn how to use her degree for research. In the future, Erica would like to go to veterinary school or pursue a similar career.
