KER Intern Spotlight: Michael HalpinBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · July 15, 2016
Kentucky Equine Research (KER) hosts interns from all over the world, either for three months in the summer or for a whole year. One of the new summer interns, Michael Halpin, is from Dorchester, Illinois.
Michael started riding horses at age seven and got her first horse a year later. Her interest in equine nutrition sparked from meeting a local equine nutritionist.
Michael is studying animal science at Southern Illinois University with a specialization in equine science that focuses on nutrition.
Michael is excited to see how research is done outside of a university setting throughout her internship, and is hoping to use this experience to prepare her for graduate school.
In her spare time, Michael loves to cook and enjoys listening to music.
