KER Renews USEF Sponsorship Agreement By Kentucky Equine Research Staff · April 2, 2014
Kentucky Equine Research (KER) has recently renewed its sponsorship agreement with the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). KER has been involved with supporting the USEF since 2006 when the company agreed to provide financial contributions, nutrition and wellness supplements, and consultation services to the USEF and its riders and drivers. The current agreement extends KER’s sponsorship through 2016.
Included in the services provided by KER are nutrition seminars for riders and support staff at USEF training camps, nutrition evaluations and advice to USEF High Performance long-listed riders, and on-site nutritional support to teams at international competitions, when applicable. The company has also agreed to arrange all logistics to transport and secure feed at international competitions, work out rations for teams assembled for these competitions, and offer ration evaluations and advice in conjunction with the team veterinarians regarding competition.
As part of this support, KER had an educational role at the USEF Developing Riders/Eventing 25 Program in January. The East Coast session was held at Meredyth South in Ocala, Florida. Joe Pagan, Ph.D., president and founder of KER, spoke to the emerging athletes about nutrition of the performance horse. KER nutritionists and USEF eventing team coach David O'Connor have worked together for nearly two decades. Session participant Emily Renfroe of Magnolia Springs, Alabama noted, "The lectures opened my eyes to various aspects of the sport and horsemanship, and provided different opinions that were educational."
