Meet a KER Intern: Alana M. By Kentucky Equine Research Staff · April 29, 2014
Kentucky Equine Research (KER), a private research company based in central Kentucky, offers summer and year-long internships to college students who want to gain hands-on experience in equine nutrition and exercise physiology studies.
Alana M. is currently a research barn intern at KER. Alana comes all the way from Erina, New South Wales, Australia. She has been riding since she was 10 and helped out at the riding barn, including teaching kids. An avid exerciser, Alana is very proud of the fact that she can squat up to 150 kilos. She graduated from the University of Sydney with bachelor’s degrees (with honors) in animal and veterinary bioscience.
While in Kentucky, she hopes to broaden her knowledge of equine husbandry, meet new people, and gain new experiences in a new country. Alana loves traveling and hopes to do more of it while working with horses in other parts of the world after her internship with KER.
