National Horse Show Moves to Kentucky in 2011By Kentucky Equine Research Staff · January 28, 2011

The National Horse Show and the ASPCA Maclay Finals will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, Ky., November 2-6, 2011.

The show is considered a year-end finale event for hunters and jumpers, and the ASPCA Maclay Finals is a prestigious class for young hunter seat equitation riders.

For the last three years, the National Horse Show and the ASPCA Maclay Finals have been held in New York, as part of the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament.

The National Horse Show began in 1883 and for 105 years was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Since 1989, though, the event has been held at different venues in New Jersey, Florida, and New York.

The Kentucky Horse Park was the site of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG), and significant upgrades were done to the facilities to accommodate that eight-discipline competition. The National Horse Show and ASPCA Maclay Finals will be held in the Alltech Arena, which was built for WEG.
