New Homes for Retired ThoroughbredsBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · September 12, 2011
The Jockey Club has started an online service, Thoroughbred Connect, to aid in the placement of retired Thoroughbreds into new homes and careers. Through this service, anyone wishing to adopt a Thoroughbred can be connected with owners of horses that have finished their years of racing or breeding and need a new home. Owners of Thoroughbreds are allowed to list up to 10 horses for which a new owner is being sought, while those interested in providing a home for retired horses may request information about as many as 100 animals offered for adoption. There is no charge to list horses or to access information about the horses and their owners.
