New Research Barn Manager Has Past Affiliation with KERBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · July 11, 2016
As a child, Alana’s cousin had a horse that she fell in love with, so she tried riding, and the rest is history. She primarily rides dressage but also enjoys jumping and cross-country.
Alana studied at the University of Sydney, earning her bachelor’s degree in animal and veterinary bioscience. After graduating from university in 2013, Alana began a year-long internship with KER and is now back working full-time as the research barn manager.
“One of the things I enjoyed most about my internship was working with great research horses, learning new things every day, and being able to work in one of the most beautiful places in the world,” explained Alana. “ I wanted to return for a full-time job as it was time to expand my knowledge within the equine nutritional research field and to work in a role that requires more responsibility—and I just love Kentucky.”
Outside of horses, Alana enjoys powerlifting. She once could squat 300 pounds!
