New Research Intern Hails from KentuckyBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · August 17, 2015

Over the years, Kentucky Equine Research (KER) has hosted interns from all over the world, either for three-month summer stints or yearlong stretches. One of new yearlong interns, Leah Turner, hails from Hazard, Kentucky, about 125 miles southeast of the company headquarters in Versailles.

While Leah has never owned a horse, she grew up riding and loves all animals. She recently graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in animal science. As an exchange student at Murray State College, she participated on its dressage team.

During her year at KER, Leah hopes to gain practical, hands-on experience by helping with nutrition and exercise physiology research.

Interesting fact: Leah is an avid reader with a huge vocabulary. While in grade school, she was reading at a college level!
