Roberts Claims Second Place at Endurance ChampionshipsBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · July 25, 2014
Cassandra Roberts, a young endurance rider from Florida, finished in second place according to the official results, but coming across the finish line one-hundredth of a second behind your teammate can’t be called a loss, especially when both riders completed the course a half-hour ahead of the third-place competitor.
At the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships held in mid-July at the Kentucky Horse Park, Roberts and Morgan Watson, another rider on the Southeast team, finished their six-hour-plus endurance race together, anchoring the win for their team as well. Run under FEI rules, the competition is the only annual FEI championship in North America for riders 14 to 21 years old.
Roberts rode Golden Lightning, a horse owned by Janice Worthington, in the endurance contest. To provide a steady plane of energy for the ride, she chose to feed Ovation. Formulated by Kentucky Equine Research, this product is designed for sport horses requiring balanced energy for maximum performance during competition and efficient muscle recovery afterwards. The feed contains a blend of complementary energy sources and incorporates natural-source vitamin E as well as a vitamin and mineral complex.
