Sport Horse Breeder Trusts KER's Nutrition AdviceBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · July 23, 2015
As an experienced equine manager, Mary O'Connor understands that each horse must be fed as an individual, taking into account factors like age, discipline, and exercise level. To help in designing feed management plans for the horses in her care, Mary counts on the advice she gets from the nutritionists at Kentucky Equine Research (KER). Her horses are nourished on products formulated by KER and distributed by CFC Farm & Home Center, a KER Brand Alliance Partner.
Mary recently sent this update to report on the progress of the mare her daughter, Anna, rides.
She explained, “Our mare, As Di Ani Z, competed at the Loudoun Benefit Horse Show with three clear rounds in the schooling jumpers, plus a clear initial round and four faults in the jump-off in her first Children’s/Adult Amateur Jumper Classic. Ani has a very efficient metabolism, grazes in a muzzle, and receives small amounts of hay throughout the day, along with CFC Pacemaker 25% ration balancer, EO-3, and Restore SR.”
EO-3 is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, known to have positive effects on reproduction, bone development, and numerous inflammatory conditions in horses. Restore SR (available in the U.S.) is a slow-release electrolyte product; Australian clients can ask for Restore.
