WEG Horses Arrive in KentuckyBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · October 8, 2010

A news release from the Kentucky Horse Park, site of this fall's World Equestrian Games (WEG), indicates the largest ever airlift of horses to a single event took place in mid-September.

Most of the horses coming to WEG arrived at the Cincinnati, Ohio airport and spent two days at the Northern Kentucky Temporary Quarantine facility. After being sent on to the Kentucky Horse Park, horses have been monitored and evaluated daily by personnel from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Federation Equestre Internationale, and WEG.

Officials from the Office of the State Veterinarian have worked for the last several years to guarantee the well-being of all visiting horses. Horse Park executive director John Nicholson said, "The health and safety of every horse who lives, visits or competes at the Kentucky Horse Park is always of paramount importance to us. We are very grateful to the state veterinarian's office for everything they are doing to work with us toward that goal."
