Wild Day at the RacesBy Kentucky Equine Research Staff · January 28, 2011
At Hanging Rock Racecourse in Victoria, Australia, the late-January Australia Day races had to be canceled because kangaroos invaded the racecourse. A number of the animals jumped over the fence surrounding the racetrack, and continued attempts to scare them away were unsuccessful. Track officials called off seven races for safety reasons, on-track wagers were refunded, and officials were attempting to decide whether to reschedule the planned races for the day.
